Luxapalia Creek Park

This is a few miles southeast of the MUW. It was an Army Corps of Engineers park, and now the City of Columbus has it leased from the Corps. It is a a great cold weather place to camp. It has a pavilion with a stone fireplace, and some concrete picnic tables to use. There is a water spigot. There is a restroom available, just bring your own toilet paper, paper towels and soap.

There is a nature trail that is a work in progress, it's being brought back into useable shape. There is no charge for Scout units to use the park. Bob Gross just asks that Scout units do some type of cleanup/conservation project while they are there, and that he be notified of Scout units being there. There is plenty of firewood avaiable. At dark, the main road gate is locked, and then unlocked the next morning. Scouts are allowed to use a area in the rear of the park. Located south of Columbus, MS just west of Highway 69 South.
